Celebrating 10 Years of the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence
The FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence is a dynamic and prestigious network of 30 outstanding early to mid-career European neuroscientists.
The Network was established in 2014 through a collaboration by the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) and The Kavli Foundation.
The multidisciplinary, international Network of FENS-Kavli Scholars is self-organised and aims to improve Neuroscience in Europe and beyond through scientific exchange, providing opportunities for young scientists, and facilitating dialogue between scientists, policy-makers, and society.

Cephalopods like squid, octopus, and cuttlefish have the largest brains among invertebrates and demonstrate extremely high intelligence and behavioral complexity. Researcher Joshua Rosenthal at the Marine Biological Laboratory, along with collaborators Eli Eisenberg at Tel Aviv University, Emma Hammarlund at Lund University and Matthew Birk at St. Francis University, are studying how these crea...
Kavli Exploration Award | A life-cycle perspective on mechanisms of neural resilience
Просмотров 51910 месяцев назад
The warming ocean and extreme weather events like heatwaves put marine animals at risk, including decapod crustaceans, which are crucial for coastal ecosystems. These creatures undergo complex life cycles, and their nervous systems are vital for functions like heartbeat and sensing their surroundings. Wolfgang Stein at Illinois State University and Steffen Harzsch at University of Greifswald ai...
Kavli Exploration Award | Mechanisms of brain resilience and adaptation to heat
Просмотров 15710 месяцев назад
As climate change leads to more frequent and severe heatwaves, humans and animals must cope with heat stress. Florence Kermen at University of Copenhagen aims to analyze the brain’s molecular, cellular, and circuit-level mechanisms for resilience to heat stress in zebrafish, a cold-blooded animal whose body temperature closely tracks that of the environment. Kermen and her team will examine how...

It might be enthralling to be invited and hold the keys into the socio-technical panopticon. Overseeing, documenting and analyzing large swaths of public activities hidden behind the one-way glass panorama. One might even feel they deserve to be there for their years of education which grants them some notion of elevated authority. However they hold no special ethical or intellectual prowess over those they would surveil in secret under the guise of "science". It might be better not to make the panopticon your home and go out and live within the true public?

What Nunez is doing is fascinating - even breakthrough. Why isn't Max taking this opportunity to learn from him rather than stumble through inarticulate platonic ramblings about mathematics as existing out there in some objective form. Has he taken the metaphor 'laws of the universe' literally? Or perhaps he's defending books he's already sold. If the latter, that seems inherently unscientific, or at least, anti science.

  • @santacruzman

Max your "modules" notion is silly. We have many capacities we bring to bear on things.

  • @santacruzman

Max's opening argument about particle bananas is an obvious argument for invention although not very creative invention. Yet he's supposed to be arguing for math being inherent in the universe.

Haha... Many of the folks running this program are terrorists and should be tried for treason for the unethical abuse on citizens and likely others around the Globe. Yeah, I sound off to anybody not in the know here. You're just naive. Give this another decade and watch where this country and world will be. To those guilty of these crimes, you know who you are, and those dollar bills and power of control sure as hell should make it easy for you to sleep at night! You guys must not believe a thing about spirituality, although I'm sure you psychopaths feign it to others, because there truly is another presence outside of your understanding in this world and you're not going to find the secret to immortality. You're not taking any of what you earn or stand for in the afterlife. You will find yourself in those final days of old age, searching for a higher being, and he will not hear you. Your fate is sealed. Another 70-90 years on this planet is miniscule to eternity. Good luck owning up to your atrocities to mankind to whatever higher power exists. Oh... and thanks USA!!! Many politicians, media, and top scientific minds are complying with the very foundation of this country being dismantled. They are intentionally or complicit on inflicting trauma, divide, and mass hysteria onto the very people who should be holding the power and making progress in life. People who are moral, intelligent, and can see through the little game being played today.

Our expanding universe is the effect and the result of a white hole explosion. Suddenly bursting outwards the accumulated matter breaking point of a super massive black hole within another dimension. Aka the big bang, exponentially accelerating and if white holes have anti singularities, this one might be earth.

One must assume that the science is most likely informing, but one would also like to think that a specific determinable listing of all possible (imaginable) end goals of the scientific research would be forthcoming (or links provided to 3rd party groups making the determinations of possible end goals in parallel to the research/researchers)? Considering "Black Box" Computer algorithm results can't be interpretatively explained by the best computer scientists, isn't it playing with fire to believe that the human brain be "resolved" to any specific detailed degree any time soon?

Great ideas and possibilities for medical science evolution. Sounds good on the surface, but there's a few comments I'd like to make. 1) I like how the odd honesty nugget was tossed in at the very tail end of the video (consciousness). It's why the CIA just released in late 2020 their report on the truth to consciousness and reality. 2) Side note that doesn't seem related, yet it is: From a citizen's perspective that watches very closely what our Gov does, who participates, funding, timing, programs, etc and knowing what DARPA works on, Gov stated DARPA's nano surveillance implant would never be used for citizens, (only for military), and now conveniently we have a COVID19 vaccine created by DARPA AND GAVI (Bill Gates owns) that has surveillance via AI implant with nano technology. Well damn, does it morph my DNA too since Gates is a depopulation/eugenics turd who has a long history of his companies settling out of court for vaccine damages?! Rhetorical question. So between the Conflicts-of-Interests and a laundry list of other important reasons, no thanks! I won't permit tyranny. Brain map that logic. I'm sure you'll be able to figure that out now that you know how to properly "wiretap" our brains and 'bodies'. 3) Don't let Rockefellers, Gates, Soros, WEF or anyone else influence how OUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS ARE SPENT! I and many others, never would accept Conflicts-of-Interests, omitted or skewed info, or plausible deniability. We were never asked, yet if we were, it wouldn't of mattered (clearly).
